The best time of year to schedule PAT testing

The summer holidays are upon us and,according to Intersafe, so is the best time of year for electrical testing in the education sector.

With children set to spend the next six weeks out of the classroom and having fun in the sun, Intersafe says there hasnever been a better time to get essential electrical testing done.

Managing Director, Adrian Pendle, said:”Electrical testing in schools, colleges and universities is so important. It’s vital that wiring is safe and that electrical items are safe to use. ;

“According to the law, all schools,colleges and universities must have their periodic inspection – or fixed wire testing – done every five years. ;

“The summer holidays provide the best opportunity to get this done with minimal disruption to pupils or students.This is the biggest slot in the educational calendar when classrooms and other areas are clear of children and young people.”

Intersafe has over 18 years experience working within the education sector, working with the likes of University College London, Oxford Brookes University and Guildford College. Over that time it has developed an acclaimed partnership approach to PAT testing, fixed testing and thermal imaging.

Staff are fully CRB checked and accredited for the most demanding health and safety requirements.

For schools, colleges and universities that are unable to take advantage of the summer holidays for their electrical testing for whatever reason, Adrian says there is nothing to fear.

“Sometimes building projects, staff training days and summer workshops mean it’s impossible to schedule electrical testing in the summer holidays,” says Adrian. “At Intersafe we’re still able to provide PAT and periodic inspection services that cause minimal disruption to student learning, whatever time of year. Our out of hours service means work can take place at night or any other time that is more convenient.”
