Intersafe Helping Produce the Next Olympians

Electrical Testing company, Intersafe, are helping to produce the next Olympians with sponsorship of the Trojans Academy (U14 – U19 Girls Performance Hockey Academy) for the 2016-2017 season.

Team GB’s victorious women’s hockey team have returned from Rio 2016! Great Britain won a historic Olympic hockey gold in a dramatic penalty shoot out against the Netherlands. With inspiring results like this, it’s time to turn our attention to the next generation of Olympians.

Electrical Testing company, Intersafe, are doing just that as they sponsor the Trojans Academy (U14 – U19 Girls Performance Hockey Academy) for the 2016-2017 season. Their support has been key in developing such an exciting and varied programme for this year’s group of players including coaching from international players at the Olympic team training ground.

The THC Academy is a programme that has been set up to provide extra support and training for top performing young female players both at Trojans and from other local bodies. The aim of the programme is to work alongside England Hockey’s single system to provide extra support and training for those young player within the single system. As part of Trojans Ladies development plan, the academy exists to help find and produce potential 1st XI players of the future.

This season has seen the academy head to the pitch where Britain’s Olympic Women’s hockey team train at Bisham Abbey. GB & England International and Commonwealth Games silver medallist, Lucy Wood, and Dirkie Chamberlain, South African International and London 2012 Olympian, took the team through their paces, inspiring the next generation of Olympians.

Chris Gittens from the Academy said:

“The Academy is about providing extra support both on and off the field for young players identified as showing talent and potential. The aim is to provide them with expert coaching as well as the type of off field support normally reserved for international players only. We work with experts in their field including a Sports Psychologist, Physiotherapist, and GB Badminton’s Performance Nutritionist to provide a network of sports science support for the athletes. In addition to this we work closely with current international players, as part of our coaching team, to provide up to date coaching centred on the current international game.

Intersafe have helped make all this possible with their support. Without it, we would be unable to offer such a variety of support and such exciting high performance camps.”
