Joined up thinking from electrical industry bodies good news for customers, says Intersafe

The Electrical Contractors’ Association and the Electrical Safety Council will create a new Electrical Safety Register

Two instrumental players in the UK electrical industry are to unite and merge their contractor registers.

The Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) and the Electrical Safety Council (ESC), will create a new Electrical Safety Register together, called Certsure.

The ECA is the UK’s largest trade association representing electrical engineering and contracting firms and the ECS is a charity that aims to reduce death and injury in the industry.

Certsure will commence from April 1, 2013. The register, heralded as a ‘definitive searchable database’ is set to contain 80 per cent of the UK’s electrical contractors.

Intersafe has welcomed the news, saying that having one point of contact will make it easier for people to search for suitable contractors and raise concerns with the industry body.

As an NICEIC approved contractor and registered member of the ECA, Intersafe will feature on the register when it goes live.
